The Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival is currently recruiting volunteers for the 2010 Festival taking place April 19-25, 2010.

The Playhouse Wine Festival is produced by the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Society, which has three mandates: provide an informative, educational and entertaining wine experience for consumers and trade; be a premier marketing opportunity for the wine industry and festival partners; and raise funds for the Playhouse Theatre Company. Since its inception in 1979, the Festival has raised over $6.7 million to enable Western Canada’s leading theatre company to mount 215 productions and develop extensive community outreach and educational programs.

The volunteers are an integral part of the Festival.  Each year, over 400 people take on a variety of volunteer roles from special event seminars, office coverage, coat check to working the International Tasting Room. The Festival employs a hand full of permanent and part-time staff for the essential operation of North America’s largest Wine Festival.   For everything else we count on you!

Festival volunteers have the unique opportunity to be:

  • involved with North America’s largest wine festival
  • develop new skills such as public speaking, volunteer management, dealing with the public, problem solving, teamwork, orienteering, time management
  • gain work experience and log volunteer hours for school or other programs

The perks of becoming a Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival volunteer:

  • Complimentary ticket to the International Tasting Room
  • Invite to the Volunteer Appreciation evening on Thursday April 8, 2010 at the Playhouse Theatre to see the production of “Love List”
  • Volunteer lounge during the Festival stocked with refreshments and light snacks for volunteers enjoyment immediately before, during and after their shift

"the true decision-makers of wineries and the wine industry from around the world are all together, so the side meetings and boardroom discussions are more fruitful than any other festival in Canada, which of course, is incredibly valuable."
