The 10th annual celebration of this competition was invitation-only. Nine medals winners since 1998 went head-to-head for the ultimate prize – the title of “The Best of the Best.” Each challenger created an original appetizer to pair with Fetzer Pinot Grigio, a crisp, frisky wine with refreshing fruit and citrus flavours. A panel of expert judges were on hand at Great Beginnings Wine and Appetizer Challenge on March 28 to crown the winner, and the public voted for their favourite pairing in the People’s Choice Award. Winners were announced at the event, and were also honoured at the trade-only Partners in Wine Lunch: South Australia Fusion – Cuisine, Culture and Wine on March 30.
