Prawn appies, gourmet pies and famous Australian lamingtons for dessert!
The evolution of food and wine that is happening in Australia is here for you to taste in person at Life of Pie. We celebrate 12 Australian wineries with an amazing cross-section of regions and styles. Find wines from the Hunter Valley, Margaret River, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and more, covering many different styles from cool- and warm-climates with celebratory bubblies, elegant Chardonnay, sophisticated Pinot Noir, and serious Shiraz. Not only will the wines be spectacular, we’re taking Aussie comfort food and elevating it to a gourmet status that even the most discerning epicurean will love.
The Aussie ‘pie’ may be an Australian tradition, but in recent years has become something of a gastronomic delight. Begin your discovery of Aussie Pie Guy’s mouth-watering pies (flaky pie crust and all the fixin’s are included). There’s the Aussie pie, a twist on the original, with free-range beef, ale and a thick onion and pepper gravy; a heavenly combination of BC beef, double-smoked bacon and vintage cheddar in the Trifecta pie; a rich, creamy pairing of chicken, white wine and mushrooms in the Chook; and, the meat-free and flavour-full aromatic Lentil Curry pie. You can take them all up a notch further by adding mash, mushy peas and gravy on top too.
If a trip into pie heaven isn’t enough, fear not, we’re serving up Aussie-style prawns as appies and the traditional lamingtons for dessert. And you can capture the fun on film at the ‘Snapshot Australia’ station. Selfies, anyone?
