Zinfandel has a long and tangled history. Although considered the
quintessential grape of California, excelling in a broad range of
appellations, its path to the New World is really quite mysterious. Zinfandel
likely originated in the Dalmatian province of Croatia, but is also closely
related to the Primitivo produced in southern Italy. This versatile grape
produces a plethora of different styles, from light and sweet to dark, tannic
and vigorous, all the while telling a singular tale of terroir. In this seminar,
D.J. Kearney will expose the roots and wonders of the alluring Zinfandel.
